Hey there, I’m Gaylea.
Pronounced “Gay-Lee”
I am a midwife, entrepreneur, storyteller, and advocate for holistic well-being through a mindfulness approach. I’d love to collaborate with you on your next project or support you through the informed decision-making process. Let me use my experience and skill-set to help lighten your load!
My Approach.
Collaboration, Consulting & Coaching
I strongly believe in the power of collaboration. I created an entire practice and business model around this approach. Whether you are a professional struggling with the infrastructure of your business model or a consumer of health struggling through a complicated decision-making scenario, I can help you organize the overwhelm into practical, realistic and applicable next steps.
Speaking and Storytelling
My story, like so many, is a mix of triumph and tragedy. Celebration and sadness. Life and loss. I would love to share some of the things that I have learned along the way in an effort to motivate and educate you and your team, so that you can be better equipped to create, facilitate and advocate. I am available for speaking engagements, writing collaborations and continuing education workshops on various topics.
Over 2 Decades of Clinical & Consulting Experience
As the practice owner of Roots Collaborative Care, I have worked with countless families, as well as a variety of health care providers, in creating, establishing and maintaining safe, healthy and sustainable plans and systems that foster wellness and growth. I would love to help you with your birth planning, practice-building or anything in between. Problem-solving is my love language!
How Can I Help You?
Writer, Speaker
Podcast Guest/Host
I am the author of the Roots Childbirth curriculum, the childbirth devotional, Watering Dandelions and I host the Podcast, “Preg Your Pardon.” I have also been the keynote speaker at wellness conferences, spoken at grief/loss retreats and moderated many small circle groups. Let’s work together for your next project, event or episode.
Community Educator &
Advocate
I am on a journey of discovery and healing after losing my oldest son. I expect this journey to be life-long and to be a combination of days that I feel successful and days that I feel defeated. I started the Art Rest Move (ARM) Foundation as a way to nurture my own grief as well as support my community in our collective grief. I’d love for you to join us in our mission!
"Gaylea is a gift to the community at large but especially to the birthing community and those processing grief and loss. Gaylea spoke to the doula group I work with and offered such an empathetic and thorough presentation on trauma, loss and grief. Gaylea is a gifted teacher and is able to capture complicated processes, such as birth and death, in a way that is digestible and relatable. I am so grateful to have her as a mentor and teacher in our community.”~ Natasha Hilton, East Nashville Doulas
What folks are Saying
"Gaylea was the first midwife preceptor to believe in me and accept me when I was a student midwife seeking clinical hours, and saw me through to the end of my studies and preparation for licensure. Her willingness to teach and share insight all made her a strong preceptor, but the time she invested helping me solve riddles and jump through the multiple hoops that are set before student midwives was instrumental in getting me to where I am today. She is an incredibly resourced, creative problem solver, with a unique ability to motivate and inspire. She's done that for me time and again, in times when I have been feeling discouraged or nearing hopelessness. She's a treasure of a friend and mentor, who truly listens, truly thinks, and then will happily talk through and seek tailored solutions with you- with success. "~ Arielle Fears, CPM-TN
